Announcing our Panelists for the Topic: Tools and Programs to Promote Youth and Women Empowerment: How can we Define Social Entrepreneurship for the Next Generation?


We are pleased to announce our confirmed panelists for the 2020 YEPI Entrepreneurship Summit for the Topic: Tools and Programs to Promote Youth and Women Empowerment: How can we Define Social Entrepreneurship for the Next Generation?


Entrepreneurship plays a pivotal role in economic development, while tackling poverty and creating jobs and thus offer innovative and effective ways to accelerate a shift towards an entrepreneurship society. The importance of fostering a next generation of social entrepreneurs is particularly salient. This panel discussion will focus on instruments to promote innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem for Mombasa, Kenya and Africa as a whole.

Meet our Expert Panel;


ALICE GUGELEV

Alice is the Managing Director at GDI and CEO GDI Africa where she works with large corporations, commercial investors and INGOs to integrate social impact, innovation and social entrepreneurship efforts into their portfolios, and helps philanthropists and social enterprises more effectively create systems-level change. Prior to joining GDI, Alice worked at Bridgespan, Bain & Co, the World Bank and the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. She is the co-founder and executive director of The Muskoka Foundation, as well as the co-founder and chief strategy officer of AppMkr. Alice earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and has a double major BA in International Economics and East Asian Studies from Columbia University and Stanford Japan Center.


GEORGE KHISA

George is the USAID Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Coordinator for East Africa. In this role, he coordinates YALI in 14 countries in East and Central Africa. Prior to joining USAID he worked at HOPE worldwide Kenya for 11 years where he managed several programs in Kenya and provided technical support to HOPE worldwide chapters in Burundi and Ethiopia. George was also a Senior Associate at the African Institute for Children Studies (AICS) for six years where he led various consultancy assignments—mainly situational analysis and program evaluations—for clients that included the government of Kenya and International NGOs. George has an MA in Education and International Development from the University of London and Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University. He is married with one daughter and enjoys exercising to keep fit.


CAROLINE ODERA

Caroline is the founder of Women In Sustainable Enterprises (WISE) a social enterprise that empowers women and girls within the fishing villages of Lake Victoria through alternative sustainable enterprises and leadership skills. She is also a Co-founder and Managing Partner at Winam Capital- an entrepreneurship ecosystem enabler working with SMEs in the Lake region counties. She is an alumnus of the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders Initiative under the Business & Entrepreneurship track at Rutgers, the state university of New Jersey. Her work has received recognitions and awards including; Top40under40 women in Kenya 2018 by Business Daily, Top 100 most positively Inspiring Youths in Africa by Positive Youths Africa in 2017 and Kenya National Diversity and Inclusion Gender Equality Champion 2nd Runners Up 2019.


IMMY JULIE

Immy Julie Musoke Nakyeyune is an experienced business consultant with more than 5 years’ experience in the field of business operations, with a proven history of aiding and significantly improving the success of numerous businesses most especially for women entrepreneurs. She is the founder of Mkazipreneur, a social enterprise that was started to promote qualitative and quantitative women entrepreneurship through connecting, celebrating and empowering women entrepreneurs in Africa. The Mkazipreneur community has over 400 influential female members spread across Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Rwanda and Ghana; with a social media presence on WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter and networking events.


This year’s summit will feature an equal focus on entrepreneurship and innovation, leadership and even provide opportunities to network with your peers and emerging entrepreneurs!
