Announcing YEPI Entrepreneurship Summit 2020 Pitch Contestants.
On February 8, 2020 we’re going to host the Fourth Annual YEPI Entrepreneurship Summit at Sai Rock Beach Hotel in sunny Mombasa! At our annual flagship event we showcase a selection of Kenya's emerging startups and come together to learn from some of the most successful African entrepreneurs of our time.
The selected startups have been announced today and are comprised of Amina Ahmed, Founder Minny Bakery, Said Mohamed Founder Cobra EventSec, Clemence Zighe Founder TechLens, Pauline Makokha Founder Furaha Events, Evlyne Chidzugwe, Founder Mudzini Bakes, Elizabeth Amadi, Founder Newettes Peanuts, Catherine Ockotch, Founder Heavenly Delights and Esther Neema, Founder Dream Tribe.
These young and emerging entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to pitch their startups to a live audience and esteemed judges, followed by 5-minute questions and answers. Judges will positively critique ideas, provide suggestions, and decide on the winner.
"I am a passionate change make with hunger to bring solid change to my community. My startup revolves around the need to fight youth unemployment in Kenya. At Cobra Event Sec we aim at creating part-time event security jobs to enable youths earn while pursuing their studies and other things." Says Said Mohamed.
Amina Ahmed, a 21-year-old self-taught baker seeks to train students who want to learn the art of baking. Her company, Minny Bakery deals with all kinds of cakes and pastries.
Said Mohamed, a passionate youth leader founded Cobra EventSec, an event security company aiming to create part-time job opportunities in a quest to fight youth unemployment in Mombasa.
Clemence Zighe is the Founder of TechLens Initiative that empowers youths and women to use technology as an enabler to facilitate change and innovation in the communities. Her business is a mobile tech classroom that promotes active learning through technology.
Pauline Makokha, a trained teacher and passionate entrepreneur seeks to open an event college to teach youth and teen mothers in Mombasa about Events Management and Decorations Skills. Her startup, Furaha Events, provides events planning and decoration services for all occasions.
Evlyne Chidzugwe is a self-taught baker passionate about cooking and healthy eating. Due to increased rate of lifestyle diseases and the need to educate the community on good eating habits, she founded Mudzini healthy bakes which provides healthy alternatives for cakes and cereals. Her mission is to simplify healthy living and make healthy foods convenient for all.
Elizabeth Amadi is a 24-year-old lady from Mombasa. Her love and passion for food led her to start Newett’s Peanut that manufactures 100% natural peanut butter using groundnuts and sesame seeds hence eradicating lifestyle diseases and helping people to leave a healthy lifestyle.
Catherine Ockotch is a cakepreneur whose mission is to improve the quality of life for all. Her company, Heavenly Delights Bakeology offers gluten free cakes made from Cassava Flour, Sweet Potatoes, Amaranth and pumpkin hence solving health problems and lifestyle related diseases such as cancer and diabetes.
Esther Neema is a Journalist and Public Relations Personnel. She founded Dream Tribe which enables and empowers entrepreneurs through marketing, public relations, collaboration and fundraising. She is in a mission to support and empower 1000 youth-led projects.
The pitch competition, the fourth of its kind to be held by YEPI, will be taking place on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Sai Rock Beach Hotel in Mombasa, Kenya from 8:00am – 5:00pm.
